The Center for Leading Health Care Change offers leadership development for our current students, our alumni and practicing pharmacists. The center provides a national platform for developing pharmacist leaders and for leading change in both practice and policy.

Producing Leaders at All Levels of the Profession, Focusing on Development:

  • Emerging leadership through the Pharm.D. program and programs for practicing pharmacists
  • Executive leadership for mid-career pharmacists in managerial positions
  • Evolutionary policy leadership for those who are changing health care and pharmacy through health systems policy
  • Transforming pharmacy practice

Our “learn-by-doing” philosophy focuses on learners demonstrating their learning skills in real world, hands-on settings.

Focus on Leadership Development: Why Now?
Increasingly, pharmacists are shifting from distributing medication to also addressing the complex drug therapy needs of consumers and society. This change in pharmacy practice requires the profession to overcome a critical leadership deficit.

A Legacy of Leadership
Since its founding in 1892, the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy has been a national leader in pharmacy education, practice and policy. Our alumni are health care leaders: from industry and association leaders, to deans and practitioners leading in their profession and community.

Our success in producing national pharmacy leaders is evidenced by our No. 3 ranking in the U.S.News & World Report “America’s Best Graduate Schools 2009” issue, which ranked 102 pharmacy schools in America.
